Challenge
The south Changchun waste water treatment plant capacity is 150,000m3/d, the source is from domestic wastewater, it is primary treatment process is A2O, the water quality should be up to Class A from Class B after modification. And the anmmonia effluent standard should meet the standard of surface waterClass III. The effluent standard as below:

Solution
Fill the BioCell media into the aerobic tank , this tank is one part of the current A2O process, and combine with the existing activity sludge process, form IFAS.
This process could improve the treatment capacity and effluent quality of the system without increasing the capacity of the biological treatment tank and the load of the secondary sedimentation tank.
Result
After the modification, both COD and NH4-N in the effluent of the system have been well removed. The average value of effluent COD is below 30mg/l, and the average value of effluent NH4-N is below 2mg/l, could meet the requirements of the first-level A effluent standard.
